Blogging is big business nowadays. There are blogs online covering topics from politics to Family Guy, and millions of people go online every day to check up on their favorite blogs.

If you want to start blogging, you are probably wondering where to start. Here is the answer to that question – check out 4 beginner blogging tips here.

1. Decide on your subject

What do you want to blog about? There are many blogs covering a variety of subjects, from swimming to bee-keeping to finances. Often it is a good idea to blog about your passions or work, as you are knowledgeable in this area and you will be able to come up with lots of interesting ideas for blog posts.

2. Choose your platform

There are lots of different blogging platforms that you can use. Popular sites like WordPress are totally free, but there are downsides too. You can’t make money from your blog, and the content isn’t really yours. Some people buy their own domain name so that they can fully control their blog and maybe even make money.

3. Choose a name

Now you’ve decided on your platform and your subject, so now it is time to choose a name. Try to think of something that is unique and catchy. It is useful to write down a long list of suggestions and ask your friends and family for ideas.

4. Learn from the competition

It is likely that there are already blogs out there that cover similar subjects to you. This isn’t a bad thing – you can use it as an opportunity to find out what topics are less covered so that you can create a unique blog.

Picking a subject seems important. I was thinking about reviewing movies, but most of my readers want anime/game reviews so I don’t want to annoy them with posts on different subjects.

I love reading your reviews, so I personally would enjoy seeing movie reviews too! Sometimes I feel a little boxed in by the theme of my blog but I somehow haven’t run out of material yet. Anyway, your blog is one of my favorites, so you are definitely doing something right. 🙂

I think another tip for new bloggers is to be consistent. Sometimes blogging can be tiring especially if your first excitement has died down. Be consistent by managing your posts and setting aside time when to blog. 🙂
