4 Ways To Stick To Deadlines

Do you struggle to stick to deadlines? One of the main struggles for many freelancers is juggling deadlines and completing everything on time.

Here are four tips to help you to stick to deadlines.

  1. Take Half An Hour For Ideas And Planning

When you get a new project, take half an hour to come with creative ideas for your project, and work out everything you need to do before the deadline.

This can help to you realize exactly how much work you have to do, and you can also prioritize each task. This method helps you to feel less stressed, while giving you the time you need to complete the task on time. Perfect!

  1. Learn To Negotiate

Many freelancers hate turning down any paid work, but taking on too much means you may produce poor work or miss your deadlines.

Learn to say no or negotiate. If your schedule is quite tight, ask for an extra few days before you accept the project. You may come across as unprofessional if you ask after you have accepted the project, so lay down your conditions initially. This way any work you take on will always be of a high standard, and never late.

  1. Remove All Distractions

This may seem obvious, but distractions will slow you down, and you could be pushed to meet your deadlines. Try to avoid social media, unless it is for work, and keep everything you need near you, such as glasses, water and a notebook.

A great app to help with this is StayFocusd – this app limits the amount of time you can spend on websites like Facebook and Twitter to help you to stay on track.

  1. Plan For Distractions

Try not to let problems in your life stop you from meeting deadlines. If your child falls ill or your boiler breaks, you don’t want that to stop you meeting your deadlines. Plan for failure, and factor in evening shifts and weekend shifts as a backup method. Good luck!
